Bath Time

Just thought I would share some bathtime pics.
She loves being in the bathtub... just like her big sister.

Thanks Jessamie for the awesome towel!

He's Got the Whole World in His Hands

One of Miriams favorite songs is "He's got the Whole World in His Hands" which is such a perfect song that even reminds me of its reassuring words. In Matthew Chapter 6, we are told not to worry because the Lord has everything in His hands. That is definitely something I struggle with and read that chapter frequently. Before Essie's arrival, my biggest worry was of how Miriam would react... would she love her? would she start pitching horrible fits? would she try to hurt Essie? would she be jealous? All of these concerns have been in my prayers and the Lord has truly answered those prayers by preparing Miriam's heart to embrace her new sister. Miriam loves her new "baby" as she calls her. She wants to give her kisses, help put her to bed, play with her, read her books, and just grins from ear to ear when Essie is around. When Shay wakes her up in the mornings, one of the first things she says is "Mama," "Baby?"
Of course we have our jealous moments, but they really are few and far between. We are so blessed to have the sweetest and most loving little girls!

"Nana, Bubba, Paapaa, Grandma"
Miriam started showing Essie her family book without any prompts from me. Is that not one of the sweetest things you have ever seen?

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day first of all to my wonderful mom! I am so blessed to have learned how to love like a mother from you.

And I hope that all my mom friends have had the most blessed Mother's Day, especially to all the new mommies I love.... Cayci, Emily, and Jessamie! Isn't it great to be a mom this year?

In honor of this great day, I have to share a great mommy story that is a "tell-all" of what my life has been like as a mother of a newborn and a 16 month old. It all started one afternoon in the bath. Miriam is "helping" me give Essie a bath, actually just obsessing over her belly button. When I was drying Essie off, Miriam was leaning over the bath tub splashing in the water. As I look away for a second, I hear a SPLASH. You guessed it... Miriam had fallen into the bath tub with all her clothes on! The first thing that comes to mind "Please Please don't have a poopy diaper right now!" She didn't, thank goodness. Well I didn't have an extra hand, Shay was on his way home, and I thought this definitely deserves a picture, so I just let her play in the bath fully clothed, diaper and all until Shay got home. This has to be one of the most comical mommy moments I have had with the two girls and I know all you moms out there can sympathize.

Music to my Ears

Right now I am sitting down for the first time today in complete silence. Both girls are asleep for the first time today. When other parents told us that going from one to two children is exponentially more difficult, they weren't kidding. With all that said, our two girls and our new family of four is the greatest blessing! I know that the Lord designed our family before Shay and I were even married so I just have to trust in Him that He will provide us with the strength, wisdom, and patience it is going to take to raise His two beautiful daughters.

In the hospital, we got Essie's pictures taken by a photographer that comes around to your room. Pretty cool huh? If you want to take a peek at the pictures, go to the website below and use the password.
