Even though the dogs aren't extremely excited about her, Miriam still loves them! They aren't hostile towards her but aren't loving either... they really could care less. We have to lure the dogs to us using a bit of jealously so that they will come close enough for Miriam to pet them. Harley was being especially lovey to Miriam on this particular day, or maybe she just wanted Shay's attention; either way it was so sweet and Miriam had a great time with her.

Big and Little Miriam

Things I learned about the name Miriam from Big Miriam....

1. Some people think that Miriam was Moses' wife. False, she was Moses' sister.

2. It is definitely not a name you hear often. Big Miriam only knows of one other Miriam and they were both extremely excited to know that there was a little Miriam.

3. There are a lot more Miriams that speak Spanish than English.

4. It is usually mispronounced, Mariam. To everyone out there, especially those with a southern accent.... her name is spelled with an "I" and pronounced accordingly :)

5. Some nicknames out there are Miri and Mimi, but most like to just be called Miriam.

I love milk!

We have an another milestone... Miriam is now holding her own bottle. She likes the new freedom to do with it what she likes such as pulling it out of her mouth continuously or playing with the nipple, so I do help out still a lot. It is exciting to see her learn new skills, but it is also sad because she needs me a little bit less now. I guess that is just part of being a mama! I am so proud of her!

Boating and Beyond!

It was so nice to get out on the boat! The girls loved it...especially Martha Jane since she is a little older to appreciate it.  Thanks to Aunt Kelton, we got some great pictures!

Big Weekend at the Lake

This past weekend we meet up at Lake Lure with our good friends Otis and Julie Pickett and their daughter, our god daughter, Martha Jane. Martha Jane is now 13 months old and walking... crazy!! I remember when she was born. Miriam is now almost 6 months old. They played so well together and it was awesome to watch. We had an eventful weekend of boating, playing, eating out, and just relaxing at the house. Many, many pictures were taken and I will get them all up over the next week, but here are a few to start. 

Miriam stares down the phone wishing she could crawl to it while Martha Jane finds something interesting.... a box of wipes that she decides to take all the wipes out of. Don't you love a curious 1 year old!!!
